Think Thin -
Resisting Temptation at Thanksgiving and the Holidays

Thin & Trim Thanksgiving Day Weight Maintenance Tips

Thanksgiving Day is a wonderful holiday. The family is together, sharing, teasing, catching up and overeating. Even the most conscientious weight watcher usually gives into temptation with the delicious feast before them.

Here are a few tips to help inspire you to maintain a healthier outlook throughout the day.

  1. Start your day off with a brisk 20 minute walk after breakfast to jump-start your metabolism. Skipping breakfast and lunch to“save space” for the big meal is BIG trouble for your metabolism.
  2. Add another 20 minute walk after a lite lunch to keep things moving. If you end up being a couch potato, stuffed with turkey, your pants undone in a food coma, then at least you’ve already done some“damage control”.
  3. Have a glass of water before your meal.
  4. As you fill your plate, have equal piles of veggies, turkey & yams… Keep your plate colorfully healthful.
  5. If you must go with a second plateful, hold off for 10 or so minutes, enjoying sips of water, wine or tea. This will help your body feel satisfied.
  6. Remember, a SMALL slice of pie is better than torturous denial.

If you know you need more support for weight loss, acupuncture & herbs can be a great help. There are specific herbs used in chinese nutrition that can help curb your appetite naturally, while boosting your metabolism. Imagine being able to resist those extra portions and large desserts easily -- it really is possible! Contact our offices for more information on our herbal nutrition programs at (310) 663-9822.

In addition, several recent studies have shown very strong results in using acupuncture for weight loss and easy weight management. Reuters, CNN and others reported successful weight loss acupuncture clinics in China. Chinese Medicine theory traditionally holds that overweight people have imbalanced digestive systems. By stimulating the digestive system with acupuncture and herbal therapy, it becomes more balanced and efficient, thus nutrition is more bio-available and the person feels fuller (thus eating less and losing weight). Other theories are that acupuncture mainly helps reduce appetite and improve metabolism(1).
